Brief on the Organization:
Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) is a University established under IIPHG Act, 2015 of Gujarat State. It offers courses in the field of Public Health. It also undertakes various research projects in the field of Public Health. The university is established by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) with support from the Government of Gujarat, Department of Health & Family Welfare.
Project Brief
Center of Excellence in Nutrition (CoEN) at IIPHG is supporting the state government in planning, implementing, and monitoring health and nutrition programs. CoEN will provide technical support to Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM-POSHAN) Scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at improving the nutritional status of children aged 5-14 years in 32,332 schools across Gujarat. CoEN will provide technical assistance, policy development, capacity building, and rigorous monitoring to ensure balanced diets, enhance educational outcomes, promote social equality, and maintain high hygiene and safety standards, contributing to the holistic development of children in Gujarat.
Deliverables:
Perform all duties of faculty at IIPHG under the guidance of Director IIPHG
Develop and deliver post-graduate courses in public health nutrition.
Mentor and advise MPH-PHN students for their research projects
Conduct original research in the field of public health nutrition. Apply for and manage research grants. Collaborate with other faculty members and institutions on interdisciplinary research projects and research dissemination.
Active participation in Nutrition professional societies at the local and national levels
Engage in collaborative projects within the university and stakeholders to promote public health nutrition. Provide expert consultation to governmental and non-governmental organizations on public health nutrition issues. Represent the department and university in professional organizations and public forums.
Identify areas for improvement in various nutrition-related programs by Health, WCD and Education department, and provide strategic recommendations for program enhancement.
Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in public health nutrition by actively participating in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups, and share knowledge with the team and stakeholders.
Participate in departmental meetings and committees. Provide technical support and guidance to all programs on public health nutrition initiated by the Government of Gujarat.
Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Qualification:
PhD with Masters in Public Health, AYUSH, Public Health Nutrition.
PhD candidates with strong practice experience in Public Health Nutrition may also be considered.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience of working in field of implementation in Public Health and/or Public Health Nutrition.
Candidates with experience of working with nutrition relevant departments such as H&FW, WCD, Education department will be preferred.
