District Coordinators, for Rajasthan, PRESENCE Project

Sangath is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Goa, with hubs in New Delhi, Bhopal and Pune. Sangath in celebrating its 27th Year and has experience conducting high quality community-based research in child development, adolescent and youth health, adult mental health, ageing and chronic diseases and addictions as well as in health equality. Sangath has won the prestigious MacArthur Foundation International Prize for Creative and Effective Institutions (2008), the WHO Public HealthChampion Award (2016). and was recognized as India’s 4th leading public health research institute by Research Councils UK (2015).

The Addictions and related-Research Group based in Sangath is focused on building evidence for affordable and effective interventions for substance-use related disorders, to ultimately inform scale up through sustainable health systems. As a result of our success in designing effective and lowcost models of care for people with alcohol use disorders, Sangath has been able to contribute to improving the quality of addiction related care, not just in Goa, but in other parts of the country, and globally.

The Addictions and related- Research Group at Sangath, is inviting application for 3 District   Coordinators at Rajasthan for its PRESENCE Project.

About the project

The PRESENCE program (Protection, pRomotion, and prEvention of mental health amongSt youth through Early iNtervention and Capacity Enhancement) is focused on strengthening the mental health and resilience of adolescents.

By working with schools across 3 districts of Rajasthan (Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar), the project will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to (i) implement a universal resilience-building intervention, equipping students with the ability to face adversities in their lives and cope during difficult situations (ii) a sports-based initiative to teach life skills and prevent substance abuse, combining physical activity with mental health education to promote holistic well-being and (iii) a mental health promotion workshops.

Through this approach, PRESENCE seeks to promote adolescent mental health.

Job Profile:

  • Lead the project implementation and management at the district level in coordination with Project Coordinator.
  • Liaison with educational institutions and government departments.
  • Plan, oversee and monitor the daily activities and operational delivery of the project activities in their own designated district.
  • Identify and compile lists of potential schools in accordance with project objective.
  • Travel to field sites to collaborate with schools, collect data, conduct evaluation and feedback survey of the stakeholders involved.
  • Providing supportive supervision to Psychologists and Adolescent Mental Health Trainers to accomplish in their allocated district targets.
  • Supporting planning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the project under the supervision of Project Coordinator.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records and files related to fieldwork status for communication with project team and collaborators.
  • Participate in regular project meetings and documentation activities as per the proposed project scope.
  • Develop participant logs, attendance sheets etc.
  • Providing support to projects implementation, guaranteeing quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist and participate in other Sangath activities.
  • Execute any other relevant duties assigned by the Project Coordinator, Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator and Senior Project Coordinator. 

Before applying, candidates must consider the eligibility criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Public Health/Humanities.
  • Prior experience of working with adolescents in education sector, health sector and community settings.
  • Prior experience of conducting trainings and workshops.
  • Willingness to be based in their allocated district and travel to community settings for fieldwork in rural or semi-rural areas.
  • Verbal and written fluency in Hindi and English.
  • Good computing (MS Office), organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment of a minimum of 1 year.

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior work experience of working with adolescents at a community level.
  • Prior experience of working in departments such as RKSK, School settings and other educational sector organisations.
  • Networks with education sector organisations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.

Salary: INR 35,000-50,000 based on experience
