Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders. Project Brief:    

The Training Division at PHFI, has been involved in building capacity of healthcare professionals in clinical and public health domains, both in India and abroad, by way of contact based courses, online courses and  training workshops. Till date, over 40,000 healthcare professionals have been trained across the country. The training division is also working with 12 State Governments who have adopted these initiatives for training of their medical officers and healthcare professionals. The training division is currently engaged in strengthening health systems in Bihar through capacity building of doctors and other personnel at district hospitals in emergency maternal & newborn and other emergency care. The project involves close engagement of medical colleges in mentoring of doctors at the district hospitals in Bihar.


The major duties and responsibilities will include-

  • Planning & implementation of Monitoring and evaluation
  • Develop M&E plan as per the project requirement in consultation with program team
  • Ensure timely implementation of M&E plan
  • Conduct assessment of infrastructure, manpower, supplies etc and clinical indicators at district hospitals and undertake gap analysis  
  • Prepare plan for periodic and routine data collection.                            
  • Develop and pilot data collection tools.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and consistent data collection from various project activities and sites.
  • Implement data validation processes to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Employ statistical techniques and analytical tools to process and analyze project data.
  • Design and develop dashboards and reports that communicate project progress and impact.
  • Present data findings to diverse stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Plan and implement impact assessments and evaluations, providing analytical support to assess the effectiveness of project interventions.
  • Collaborate with project team to measure project outcomes against established indicators.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and consistency of data analysis and reporting.
  • Validate data outputs and troubleshoot discrepancies as needed.
  • Support program team in timely implementation of the project including preparing presentations and reports related to the project.               
  • Support program team in field operations as per requirement
  • Conduct monitoring field visits for quality assurance.
  • Report on a day to day basis regarding project and seek timely advice wherever necessary.
  • Coordinating with the local partners including State Health Society in Bihar, regional medical college faculty and district health officials to ensure that critical issues are addressed in a timely manner.                                                                                                                                                     
  • Attend and participate in stakeholders meetings and other meetings as needed and prepare meeting reports.
  • Preparing and disseminating of an advanced M&E implementation plan including critical key activities and milestones, time lines, resources requirement, develop algorithms to keep track of process and progress of program.
  • Manage participant and faculty database and documentation of the program.
  • Maintain database of mentoring visits and conduct basic analysis
  • Documentation of all project related activities, presentations with donors, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Help in program progress reports, as well as any other reports as per the requirement of the project or as designated by Public Health Specialist.
  • Support in writing additional proposals, budgeting, documentation papers and reports
  • Travel as required.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Public Health Specialist & Project PI.



  • Graduate/post graduate in Statistics/ Demography/ Public Health/Data Science or related fields



  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in health sector and at least 3 years in M&E.


  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with commonly used software such as Microsoft Office     
  • Proficiency in statistical software packages such as SPSS
  • Documentation and report writing skills                                                                      
  • Previous experience in public health, RMNCHA, demography, hospital statistics etc.
