Sangath is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization headquartered in Goa, with hubs in New Delhi, Bhopal and Pune. Sangath is in its 27th Year of existence and has experience conducting high quality community-based research in child development, adolescent and youth health, adult mental health, ageing and chronic diseases and addictions as well as in health equality. Sangath has won the prestigious MacArthur Foundation International Prize for Creative and Effective Institutions (2008), was recognized as India’s 4th leading public health research institute by Research Councils UK (2015) and won the WHO Public Health Champion Award (2016).
The Addictions and Related Research Group based in Sangath is focused on building evidence for affordable and effective interventions for substance-use related disorders, to ultimately inform scale up through sustainable health systems. As a result of our success in designing effective and low-cost models of care for people with alcohol use disorders, Sangath has been able to contribute to improving the quality of addiction related care, not just in Goa, but in other parts of the country, and globally.
The Additions and Related Research Group at Sangath, Goa is inviting applications for 1 Project Coordinator at Madhya Pradesh for its PRESENCE project.
About the project
The PRESENCE program (Protection, pRomotion, and prEvention of mental health amongSt youth through Early iNtervention and Capacity Enhancement) is focused on strengthening the mental health and resilience of adolescents.
By working with schools across 3 districts of Madhya Pradesh (Bhind, Morena, Gwalior), the project will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to (i) implement a universal resilience-building intervention, equipping students with the ability to face adversities in their lives and cope during difficult situations (ii) a sports-based initiative to teach life skills and prevent substance abuse, combining physical activity with mental health education to promote holistic well-being and (iii) a mental health promotion workshops.
Through this approach, PRESENCE seeks to promote adolescent mental health.
Job Profile:
• Primary responsibility to assist Project Lead with project tasks.
• Be responsible for project activities like trainings and workshops.
• Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information.
• Managing accounts for the project (authorizing payments, preparing quarterly statements and projections for next quarter).
• Managing the assets of the project, organizing project-based events, meetings and seminars, ensuring documentation related to the project are maintained, update information for the website and send monthly reports to the Managing Committee as well as prepare biennial reports.
• Coordinate with schools, educational institutions and relevant government departments to ensure that the intervention is provided as per protocol.
• Sending annual narrative and financial reports to the funders.
• Conducting performance appraisals of Junior staff.
• Capacity building of junior team members.
• Being accountable to, and working under the supervision of the Project Lead, organizing community programs/training as and when required.
• Participate in Sangath activities.
• Contribute to the growth of ARG.
