Sangath is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Goa, with hubs in New Delhi, Bhopal and Pune. The Addictions and Related-Research Group based in Sangath is focused on building evidence for affordable and effective interventions for substance-use related disorders, to ultimately inform scale up through sustainable health systems. As a result of our success in designing effective and low- cost models of care for people with alcohol use disorders, Sangath has been able to contribute to improving the quality of addiction related care, not just in Goa, but in other parts of the country, and globally.

The Addictions and Related-Research Group at Sangath, Goa is inviting application for (3) Psychologist, at Madhya Pradesh for its PRESENCE project.

About project-

The PRESENCE program (Protection, pRomotion, and prEvention of mental health amongSt youth through Early iNtervention and Capacity Enhancement) is focused on strengthening the mental health and resilience of adolescents.

By working with schools across 3 districts of Madhya Pradesh (Bhind, Morena, Gwalior), the project will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to (i) implement a universal resilience-building intervention, equipping students with the ability to face adversities in their lives and cope during difficult situations

a sports-based initiative to teach life skills and prevent substance abuse, combining physical activity with mental health education to promote holistic well-being and (iii) a mental health promotion workshops.

Through this approach, PRESENCE seeks to promote adolescent mental health.

Job Responsibilities-

  • To implement intervention deliverables in selected schools across districts
  • To conduct trainings on resilience, adolescent well-being and mental health in schools for adolescents, teachers and parents.
  • To provide supervision and training support to adolescent mental health trainers who will be delivering resilience intervention in selected schools.
  • To conduct workshops on mental health promotion in the selected districts.
  • To conduct gatekeeper training on suicide prevention in the selected districts.
  • To maintain adequate documentation and collect feedback.
  • To participate in qualitative research activities as part of project deliverables.
  • To prepare and refine resource material and manuals.
  • To provide counseling sessions (and clinical case management) to adolescents as needed.
  • To conduct/organize/assist in seminars, symposiums, trainings and public engagement activities as part of the organization’s objectives.
  • Execute any other relevant duties assigned by the Project Coordinator and Project Lead.

Essential Candidate requirements-

  • Postgraduate degree in Psychology/Child Psychology
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working as a counsellor/psychologist with adolescents.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across community settings for fieldwork in rural or semi-rural areas
  • Fluency in Hindi and English (written & verbal)
  • Strong Organizational, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Candidate must be good in using Microsoft Office applications (MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Minimum Commitment of 1 year.
  • Passionate about Mental Health

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in schools/ community setting
  • Experience in training on psychological therapies and intervention protocol and conducting supervision for the same for Adolescent Mental Health Trainers, students, teachers, coaches and parents.
  • Experience in organizing and conducting training/workshops with participant stakeholders
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Experience in using digital tools for intervention delivery and/or training
  • Proficiency in using statistical software’s such as STRATA, SPSS or R.
  • Proficiency in conducting literature review, qualitative research and systematic/scoping reviews.
  • Proficiency in managing survey tools such as Redcap/Qualtrics
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
