About HRIDAY

HRIDAY is a not-for-profit organization that aims to promote sustainable health, particularly among youth, in multiple settings including schools, colleges, workplaces and the community at large. HRIDAY engages in multi-disciplinary research, capacity building and undertakes campaigns linked to the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). HRIDAY addresses NCDs from a health and development perspective, particularly in the context of Goal 3.4 under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Job Description

NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Multiple Long-term Conditions, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research UK, to establish a Centre for improving lives of people with multimorbidity or multiple long term conditions. Through research, community engagement and involvement and research capacity strengthening the Centre aims to improve patient care through co-designed intervention. The Centre will build capacity of researchers and research supporting staff in the lead and co-applicant institutions. The Research Assistant will support the ongoing community engagement and involvement activities of the Centre. The candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing field activities in Visakhapatnam. This role requires a proactive and organized individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and community representatives. The Research Assistant will work closely with the Research team at HRIDAY, New Delhi, and PHFI Visakhapatnam to assist in the implementation of NIHR-GHRC for MLTCs project. At present, there is 1 position available at the organization.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct and coordinate field activities (qualitative)at Visakhapatnam site, ensuring compliance with project timelines and objectives.
  2. Able to conduct literature/desk reviews.
  3. Collect data at study sites and build capacities of community champions through trainings.
  4. Liason with community members, government representatives, and other stakeholders. ‘
  5. Transcribe and translate qualitative data and conduct thematic analysis, develop project reports, and provide regular updates to   Supervisors in a timely manner.
  6. Use creativity to analyze and interpret research data and draw conclusions on the outcomes.
  7. Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, community champions, community leaders, and project partners.
  8. Join external networks to share information.

Requirements

  1. Master’s degree in social science/anthropology/public health or related field.
  2. A minimum of 1-3 years’ relevant experience in public health, specifically in NCDs, is desirable.
  3. Proven experience in conducting field work and stakeholder management.
  4. Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
  5. Flexibility to travel to field sites within Visakhapatnam and nearby areas, as needed.
  6. Ability to conduct literature reviews and field research.
  7. Analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  8. Proficient in English and Telugu languages.
