Brief on the Organization:
Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) is a University established under IIPHG Act, 2015 of Gujarat State. It offers courses in the field of Public Health. It also undertakes various research projects in the field of Public Health. The university is established by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) with support from the Government of Gujarat, Department of Health & Family Welfare.
Project Brief
Indian Institute of Public Health-Gandhinagar is working closely with UNICEF and Government of Uttar Pradesh for development and implementation of heat action plan to protect the population against the heat related illnesses. This plan focusses on health risk communication with immediate and longer-term actions to increase preparedness, information-sharing, and response coordination to reduce the health impacts of extreme heat on vulnerable populations specially children. The National Disaster Management Authority has recommended development and implementation of City Heat Action Plans in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop and implement the heat action plan in major cities of Uttar Pradesh. Under this project, IIPH-G will work closely with municipal corporations of Agra, Prayagraj and Jhansi for development of city level heat action plans.
Deliverables:
Conducting review of literature related to Climate Change and its impact on human health.
Conducting Bio Statistical Analysis using Temp., Mortality and other meteorological data
Involved in development of tools for understanding impact of climate change on health
Conducting situational analysis of current approaches for communication on climate change and climate sensitive diseases among the key stakeholders and communities.
Involved in development of Climate Resilience Heat Action Plans
Involved in training and capacity building of teachers, students, ASHAs, ANMs, AWWs, community members
Research paper writing and publishing in reputed journals
Involved in awareness generation meetings
Any other activities as assigned by the PI or supervisor.
Qualification :
Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/ Bio Statistics/ Public Health/ Health Management
Desirable:
MPH, MSc- Environmental Science
Experience:
Minimum 02-03 years of working experience.
Desirable:
05 (Five) years’ experience in Environmental Public Health/ Climate Change and Health
