Brief on the Organization:

The Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad (IIPH, H) commenced with a mission to deliver public health education, pursue research and advocacy and support policy development. It lays strong emphasis on pursuing public health policy, practice, training and research, positioning its programmes according to the public health priorities of the state and the nation. The institute has brought together a highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained and extremely motivated public health academics and practitioners. It aims to create an environment that supports excellence in instruction, research and practice. The Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad (IIPH-H) as an arm of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) aims to strengthen Public Health in India. The governance of IIPH Hyderabad is managed by a locally empowered society called the Institute of Public Health Sciences Hyderabad (IPHSH)

PANPREP- Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla Centre for Infectious Diseases and Pandemic Preparedness at IIPHH embodies the Institute’s commitment to advancing infectious disease research. The Centre aims to serve as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and translation of scientific knowledge into practical health solutions. It will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, and young scientists to drive pioneering studies, adopt cutting-edge technologies, and strengthen India’s capacity to prevent and manage infectious diseases of global concern. Key focus areas include Infectious diseases, zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, air and water pollution, vector-borne diseases, and climate-health interactions as well as cross-cutting themes with focus on One Health: Health systems strengthening, pandemic preparedness, disease surveillance, community engagement, and intersectoral coordination.

Job Requirements:

Research

• Undertake independent and collaborative research projects, including conceptualizing proposals and securing competitive national and international grants  in the above mentioned Centre’s key  focus areas.
• Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at professional and academic forums.
• Publish policy and opinion pieces in local, national and international print and digital media.
• Mentor and guide junior faculty, research staff and students in study design, data analysis, and scientific writing.

Project Leadership

• Provide strategic direction and operational guidance to research studies, implementation projects, and training within the above mentioned Centre’s key focus areas.
• Establish and lead collaborations with internal teams and external partners—including government bodies, NGOs, international agencies, and academic institutions—for joint research and programs.
• Represent the Centre and IIPHH at national and international platforms.

 Administrative and Other Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to Centre’s expansion and impact including support for new collaborations and team building.
• Facilitate data filing and sharing, knowledge exchange, and community engagement to strengthen impact and visibility.
• Undertake travel for project supervision, field visits, collaborations, or training activities.
• Perform other project or institutional duties as assigned by the supervisor or senior management.

Qualification: 

Essential:

• Doctoral degree (PhD/MD/DrPH or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Medicine, Health Systems, or related disciplines.

Experience:

Essential:

•  Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience in public health, including at least 8 years in project leadership, management, or academic administration.
• Proven expertise in strategic planning, operational oversight, and financial management of large-scale public health programmes or research projects.
• Demonstrated record of high-quality research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development in public health or related areas.
